“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” – Susan Sontag
Up, up, and away!
I can hardly believe it but after months of anticipation, weeks of practicing parade routines, and hours packing the perfect outfits, it is officially time for the #VarsityLondon tour! The All-Americans are ready to ring in the New Year with lots of cheer in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Hundreds of All-Americans from across the United States have packed their bags, traveled to their gateway cities, and said “Cheerio!” to the USA until 2017!
My group traveled out of Orlando, Florida where almost 200 All-Americans and families joined us on airplane. Once we boarded the flight, the rows were buzzing with excitement. Many of the All-Americans were reuniting with cheerleaders and dancers from different high schools that they met at a Varsity Spirit summer camp or making new friends that were equally excited about the journey ahead. After a delicious dinner, we tried to get some sleep. (Even though we were beyond excited!)
After hopefully a good night’s rest, we woke up in one of the world’s most historic and stunning cities, London! The afternoon was spent getting settled into the hotel and checking out some of the sites and shops nearby. The dancers have been busy, too! Brea reports that upon arriving in London, several groups ventured out to take a first look at Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and the London Eye.
Tune back in soon, each day there will be a new blog post here on Varsity.com with updates on our #VarsityLondon adventures!
